Birmingham LJ meetup

Ok - thanks to the wonders of polls etc, the meet has been set up for:

Wednesday 23rd November 2005 from 7:45 pm

The venue - Raphael's bar in Paradise Forum, Paradise Place, Birmingham. B3 3HJ. Tel: 0121 212 2727. They serve food and it's not too noisy/smokey and has a nice selection of drinks at fair prices. It's pretty open plan and has a nice view of the B'ham wheel thingie. It's in the walk through between the Central Library and the square leading up to the ICC. we'll be sitting around to the right hand side (hopefully!). Just look for the collection of photographic equipment on the tables as I'm sure at least one member will want to photo-blog it or something? Other than that, I don't have any LJ themed attire so just play it by ear ;)

[info]tonymorel - are you still getting the meeting going for the B'ham Metro-Blog lot? If so, do you want to let them know about this gathering??

great stuff. i was going to a gig at the academy that day, but i decided it was a bit too expensive, so i should be up for this instead (even though i'll probably spend the same amount of money!).

obviously i am easily recognisable, the clue's in the icon..

aha - you're a character from Sesame Street! I will bring *cookies* then ;) Or should I be looking for someone who looks like Bod's brother with a rainbow coloured hat?

I think they're planning on having their do on the 31st - at least I'll get to go out twice - am going to need it judging by how hectic work is going to be.

See you in 10days :)

didn't you get the memo about it being extended this year due to solar alignment slowing down the Earths orbit ?

I thought it was because they were taking a day off the beginning of January (the 4th I think it was) so there wouldn't be so much time between the December pay packet and January's. Too many people were having problems cos they've spent too much at Christmas and New Years and it's ages till they get paid in January.

Personally I think that we should just swap February and January around.

I'll endevour to be there. I just finished the film with some of the shots from the last meeting on (I think). I meant to take the camera with the Scala in, to finish off the roll as according to last week's BJP it looks like all the processing centres are going to run out of the chemicals to process it by the end of December, but picked up the wrong camera.

I'll take the film (a roll of colour) to Boot's tommorrow for processing.

Thanks. I'll do my best. They're moving us out to Waterlinks (on Richard Street, basically mugger's paradise) on Thursday and Friday of this week. Assuming I don't get mugged or jailed (for carrying a back pack), I'll be there.

waterlinks! ha, that's right near my house (aston brook green - on t'other side of the canal). you're right it's meant to be a mugger's paradise, but thus far i haven't had any trouble (been here since late september).

Everyone I know who has worked there for a reasonable period (over a year) has a story about being mugged, having something snatched off them or narrowly avoiding being mugged/having something snatched.

There's parking spaces in a secure car park there but only manager's get spaces and anyway I don't drive. The management swear that there's half a dozen bus services to the door. Travel West Midlands (the people who actually run the buses) say the nearest bus service runs a couple of hundred yards away. Not exactly filled with confidence, especially as my job tends to involve working late.

I worked at the Cap Gemini building till I quit due to being mugged so often. Eventually they moved my old department to Waterlinks cause it was (only just) safer.
Ahhhh I used to love walking home from there when I'd worked late.
